I Am Learning To Write A Recount

My 100 Days Party

Yay! The day had finally arrived and we got to celebrate 100 days at school. First we did an action song called Zero the Hero and I had to do one hundred exercises. Next we iced the 100 cup cakes and they looked so delicious I could not wait to eat them! They had yummy icing on them and sprinkles. Finally we got to make our 100 glasses and I looked groovy and funny. I think it was a fantastic party because we had fun activities and games.

I Am Learning To Use Describing Words

For Mother’s Day we had to write a poem in word art.

We are learning to use describing words in our writing to make it interesting. We loved making our cards in Word Art and choosing the shape, colour and font.

I Am Learning to Read Bar Graphs and Talk About the Results

I am learning to read a bar graph and answer questions

I need to:

*read the question

*read the data (information) on the graph

*identify the lowest (fewest) and highest (most) bars

*read the quantities

*compare the data on the graph

*answer questions about the data (information) on the graph

Sofia- Eric has the most games. He has 11 games. Nathaniel has the fewest games and he has 7.

My Reflection

I am learning to read a bar graph. I found this easy because it was easy to read the words. My next step is to read the questions.

I am learning to use capital letters and full stops

I am learning to use capital letters correctly:

I use a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence.

I use a capital letter for the word ‘I.’

I use a capital letter for names of things.

I am learning to use full stops correctly:

I use a full stop at the end of a sentence.

My Reflection

I am learning to use capital letters and full stops. I was able to circle the capital letters and full stops. I found this easy because i knew how to spell the words. My next step is to write longer sentences.

Acrostic poem

I am learning how to write an acrostic poem.  I know that I start each sentence with a letter of the subject.  I wrote about myself.

Elm Park 50th Birthday Party

We launched our Celebration Inquiry with a huge party for Elm Park School. This year our school will turn 50! We had a great day with our school friends and our whanau.

Sofia said,"We had a party and I liked every bit of it."

We are learning to write for an audience and publish quality work to share.

We are learning about how people celebrate changes in season’s. We went on an Autumn treasure hunt around our school and collected leaves. This was the motivation for our story writing.
